The New Blogger

I don't remember when exactly the new Blogger was launched or if anyone else noticed this. Blogger has been acquired by Google and now you can sign in to Blogger using your Gmail account. I migrated to Beta trusting Google's capacity to make anything better.

New Features

  • Customizable template. Some of the new features the new Blogger is offering is the customizable template. You can move around the elements found in your blog like the header, sidebar contents, etc. through the simple act of dragging and dropping that element. This is really useful for people like me who really don't know much about template editing. The template I used in my blog was the Dots template and I just customized the background. I was hoping to do this but can't find anything that can do it using the new customizer. The HTML editor was not yet in place at that time so I aborted changing my template. Good thing now the HTML editor is revived. I'm going to try editing again when I have the time.
  • Labels. If you're like me who blogs about all sorts of things and not on only one subject, this feature is very useful. You can now label your post with the subject you're writing on. Hopefully, this will make your blog more organized.
The Downside
  • Learning curve. The HTML editor is changed so now you have to study it again for you to be able to use it.
  • Inability to comment. Beta users cannot comment on non-beta blogs.
